Naming

I have this bird, a cockatiel, that picks up on every sound made in the house. I never thought I would see the day, me with a pet. No, I didn't go to the pet store and buy him. My mom did...he was initially for my grandmother and to make a long story short he is now mine. He was given to me back in April of last year (2008). I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about me having a pet and having to take care of it...big responsibility!! Anyway, I took him home with me. My mom had named him Pretty Boy...dumb name, right? I told her I was changing his name and had no clue as to what it would be.

Now, I must say this, I commend the folks who know what to name their dogs, children, birds, cats, etc. It was the hardest thing for me to come up with a name. I am soooo worried about when I have children...they won't have names. I named this bird about 5 different names. I initially started calling him Tim Collins...don't ask me why. Let's just say the names didn't get any better after that.

Anyone who owns a cockatiel knows that they like a lot of attention and affection. So, every morning I get ready for work and then I sit down in my living room, that's where the bird is, and watch a Disney movie with him. Well, I'll never forget it...I popped in Cinderella, one of my all time favorite Disney movies btw, and of course there are singing animals in it. Well, I really didn't think much of the bird watching it or even enjoying it. Anyway, the first scene with Cinderella she starts to sing to the birds and the mice. After her song the animals do their little number. WELL!!!! My bird immediately chimed right in with the cartoon birds chirping away. Just like that it hit me!! I'll name my bird Disney!! Little Disney enjoys watching Disney movies everyday.

Yeah, some folks think I'm crazy for talking about my bird like it's a human but it is a live being. He's got personality like none other. I didn't think I would but I actually like the thing. Disney makes the cutest little whistling noises some of which he's mimicking from the Disney cartoons. As a matter of fact, I'm sitting right next to him and am listening to him whistle away. He's glad I'm in the same room with him (likes a lot of attention).

Seeing as though I LOVE Disney World and their movies I think it's only fitting to name my pet after it. Overall, I think I got the right name even though it took me forever. Hopefully, when I start to have children I will be a bit more decisive on a name BEFORE the baby comes. :)

Time

So, is it just me or does time really fly as you get older? It seemed just yesterday I had graduated from high school. But NO that was 8 and a half years ago. I graduated from college 3 years ago. What the heck is going on?

I don't think there are enough hours in a day. I swear the government has some evil plot against us and is somehow stealing time from us along with our money. That's a horse of a different color and therefore will have to be saved for a different blog.

BTW, this is my first time blogging. I really don't have a specific agenda for this endeavor but to just get things off my chest and in writing. If someone reads it then fine and if not that's cool too. Let's just say that there will be many blogs to come on fashion tips, Disney World vacation tips (there will be many of those), driving tips, and many many more. Stay tuned...
